In The Spectacular Now by Tim Tharp something having to do with ethics comes up in the first chapter. The main character Sutter sees a little kid at a gas station all alone. He clearly needs help to get where he is going, but Sutter also had been drinking earlier. So that made me think should he help this kid cause it's the right thing to door should he not because he'd be putting the kid in danger?
I first thought he should help the kid because otherwise he could end up with the wrong people and not get home. But could he just be putting the kid in more danger? He could possibly be risking his own life as well and the kid.
Sutter ends up helping the kid which I feel was the right thing to do. Nothing ended up happening, he got home safely. This has made me think that the ethical dilemmas we have been doing in class come up everywhere (or things like them). We have to make decisions based on ethics all the time. It's made me realize that the things we have been talking about this unit can really help in making important decisions. Ethical decisions can be every important. Even life changing.
