Looking For Alaska

   With her scent of cigarettes and vanilla lotion Alaska Young lets you into her labyrinth of suffering through Miles (Pudge) Halter's, the main character of Looking For Alaska by John Green, eyes. Pudge moves from his home in Florida to Culver Creek Boarding School in Alabama and befriends Colonel, Takumi, Lara, and best of all Alaska Young. The book is split into two parts, before and after. Before meaning before Alaska's death and after meaning after.
   Pudge is in love with Alaska. To me it was pretty obvious from the beginning of the book that that would be the case at someone point, but even though some people might say Alaska didn't love him back I that think there are little hints to it. Alaska would always say how adorable he was, but then sort of take it back by saying it didn't matter because she loved her boyfriend. I'm sure Alaska did love her boyfriend, but I think she kind of loved Pudge too. Another part of me thinks that Alaska would've done this with any guy and that it had nothing to do with Pudge's somewhat adorable gawkiness or his sense of humor. It was just about flirting with any guy. Part of me also thinks that she knew how Pudge felt about her so she took advantage of it. The night she dies Alaska and Pudge hook up. When they're done she says to be continued? To me that could either mean they could maybe have more then just a platonic relationship or that she just wants someone to hook up with later. Whatever Alaska's intentions were she let Pudge in enough that he was able to fall truly in love with her even when she was dead.
